GIS- Geographic information systems

GIS are great in schools, kids absolutely love them! Examples of GIS are applications such as google earth, earth browser and info mapper in which you are able to locate pretty much any area around the world to observe. They are fab when teaching geography lessons as children are able to realistically discover different countries through finding them through the GIS. I have used these in several lessons and have found that children are fascinated by them and really keen to learn more about the countries. I think it's a fab device to start using at a young age as it brings the world to life. Children can see first hand where the countries are positioned on the globe and find out specific information about a certain country.
